Human Trafficking Awareness Day – The Day to Wear Blue

Hope to Heal Foundation

Human Trafficking is the most heinous crime, whereby criminals steal people’s freedom for profit. Trafficking in person robs people of their freedom and their human dignity.

No country is immune to trafficking in persons. It is a global crisis affecting millions of people regardless of race, religion, or origin. Not many people know that minors and adult male victims are also victims of sex trafficking.

Human trafficking threatens our physical and virtual borders, our immigration and customs systems, our economy and health system, national security, and our personal and public safety.

People from insecure environments that threaten their lives and their safety that stems from countries at war, civil unrest, political conflict, violence, and natural disasters, amongst other crises, force people to migrate.  Criminals take advantage of these events to target their victims.

Human smuggling syndicates are run like businesses, drawn by high-profit margins in what is now a multi-billion-dollar operation. Smuggling networks can be extensive and complex and are constantly change their operation tactics.
