International Day of Yoga

On the 11th of December 2014 the United Nations General Assembly declared the 21st of June the International Day of Yoga, after it was proposed by the Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi, in order to raise awareness about the benefits of this ancient Indian practice.  The word Yoga derives from Sanskrit and means to join or to unite, symbolising the union of body and consciousness.

Yoga can be beneficial for those who suffer from lifestyle diseases and fitness disorders. Yoga consists of a range of exercises and poses that help the body, mind, and soul heal and relax.
