Nirvana Govender
is an International Relations Honors graduate from the University of Pretoria where she focused research on the agency of women in local peacebuilding in Africa.
She is a writer for the international and political affairs blog, The Art of Politics. She is an anti-GBV activist and founder of Get Involved (@getinvolved_gbv) on Instagram, a grassroots GBV awareness page, which she used as a platform to conduct and produce a survey report on attitudes towards GBV in South Africa in 2020. She served as an International Humanitarian Law Intern at the International Committee of the Red Cross, Southern Africa regional office in her final year of undergraduate studies. She also volunteered as a Research Assistant for the global CoronaNet Research Project by gathering data on Nigerian state responses to the COVID-19 pandemic.
